Nature is Whispering Your Name

SHE

by Cameron Harrington

She cradles us in her embrace, pulling us close to her body.

She delights us with play toys that tantalize all of our scenes.

She nourishes us from her breast; as we suckle, we kick and ask for more.

She provides, tirelessly knowing our well-being is solely in her hands.

She is grace in motherhood, whispering softly to settle us.

Though she is mighty, she is tired; she needs to rest and revitalize.

She keeps one omniscient eye open to watch as we climb and fall back into her.

She prays that we grow, morphing entitled cries into compassionate acts.

She is our provider, our caretaker, our mother, and our muse.

She is everything, and we call her Earth.

It’s been twenty-some-odd days since we hugged our most recent “retreat family” goodbye. Patrick and I are always moved to witness the growth or transformation in our retreat participants with just one week in nature. It reminds us that we all need the medicine of Nature to truly thrive.

When participants arrive, they are disheveled and tired from traveling. They look up from the bottom of 40 stairs that resemble a climb to an ancient temple. Surrounded by the jungle as they climb, they are filled with contrasting emotions of apprehension, curiosity, anxiety, excitement, and uncertainty. When they reach the top of the stairs, they receive a reward of a cold coconut with a paper straw. This first day, is dedicated to sloughing off the old skin so they can absorb this new world around them.

Throughout the week in nature with community, they remember their potential, gifts, and deeper desires. We set down our phones, connect with our hearts, play in the ocean, dance in the moonlight, eat outdoors in the fresh air, and giggle at the jungle-shaking howl that comes out of that smallish monkey in the tree outside their room. Over our time together, people’s dreams begin to look attainable and feel closer than ever before. They remember who they really are, stripped of their patterns from their home life. The work, then, is simply to access this newly learned awareness and use methods to embody this part of YOU in your daily life.

As I write this, I watch a mother monkey climb the vine-covered tree outside our home. Her tiny baby rides on her back with arms wrapped around, taking in the sensorial world. As you ride around on this orb we call Earth do you pause just to be/ feel/ observe/ take in and listen and love?

Are you ready to reconnect deeply with yourself in nature? Is nature becoming your fourth? Is it time for a dose of Nature's Medicine? It is time that you remember the healing vibes of being in nature.

Our next retreat is July 21-24.

In communion with nature, we can make something new happen for ourselves. WE PROMISE you will return to the city with new perspectives, relieved, and energized for our lives!

We have always Imagined getting away with friends, new and old, in nature, out of the city, out of our trigger zones, for a relaxing and energizing mini vacay!

Would you want to be in nature with us, ride horses (or don’t:), soak in hot springs, do active and restorative yoga, have great conversations, and leave your responsibilities behind for a long weekend in the mountains?

If this sounds like something you would like to join us for, jump on a call this Thursday to learn more info…
